Eden’s Trust offers a FREE bereavement service in Primary and Secondary Schools. The charity provides school-based support to help pupils who have lost a parent or a sibling of any age.
Dealing with the loss of a loved one can be challenging for some young people, while others may struggle to cope with specific life events or experience increased stress and anxiety during bereavement.
A wealth of evidence points to a significant need for early mental health support:
One in eight children and young people have a diagnosable mental health problem and many continue to have these problems into adulthood. Children are less likely to suffer from serious mental health difficulties in later life if they receive support at an early age. Consequently, there is little or no support for young people who have experienced the death of a sibling or a parent.
Eden’s Trust is always interested in forming new partnerships with schools which enable bereavement services to reach families and students in an area where there is so little for bereaved parents and siblings.
